"Lovely Trash" | unique objects grown from waste
design by Blast I London / England
Mycelium is the vegetative part of a fungus, consisting of a mass branching and thread-like structure (Hyphae) and the studio uses its natural capacity to digest organic matter. Blast Studio uses, thrown away TAKE AWAY CUPS, which are notoriously difficult to recycle for the mycelium to feed on and create a strong and environmentally astute biomaterial! ⠀
The biomaterial is then used to create contemporary and fully functional homeware that facilitates your journey to sustainable living. The shape of the vases is inspired by cacti and their ability to retrieve humidity, which is essential for mycelium growth!
Each piece is unique according to the way the organism grows and it might change slightly overtime. Items might vary slightly in colour or appearance, which we hope you see as an advantage rather than a vice!
How to recycle: During the production process the mycelium digest the waste raw material but not entirely therefore if left it might leave traces.
