In a previous existence the bendy dowels, two-hundred and forty centimetres in length and fifteen millimetres in diameter, had been used to divide space of a furniture showroom and were now being discarded. Tasked with finding a way to re-appropriate the sticks into something useful once again, Studio Furthermore sought a 'wasteless' outcome. Initial material exploration had not been altogether encouraging as the acts of sawing, routing and planing only created waste.
With this thought in mind, Studio Furthermore created light sculptures from the wooden dowels coated with textured sawdust surfaces so that nothing was wasted. They restricted themselves to working with leftover lighting components and material offcuts stored away from previous projects.
